[photoshop-beginners] Re: Silver

A polished metal surface will not only have the color of the underlying metal but will reflect the colors of its environment. One way to simulate that and reduce the "flatness" of the solid color is
1- select another image with interesting colors,
2- Gaussian blur that image to a point where shapes are indecipherable but colors are not washed out,
3- copy/paste that over the image of the metal surface.
4- select the metal surface area and
5- use that selection to mask the blurred image layer,
6- finally, use layer style and opacity to blend the blurred image with the metal surface.

There will also be distortions if the metal surface is not flat. In that case, use a grayscale copy of the metal surface to distort the color image before blurring it.
God bless you always, all ways,
Paul
