The colors look better, but the main problem remains. That is, the girls do not stand out from the background. A slight blur in the background may help, especially with the branches next to the bridge.

I downloaded the picture and opened it in ACR and played with the settings there. Opened it in PS and changed to lab and did an unsharp mask on the lightness channel. (un sharp sharpen settings, amt 150, radius <1 and 0 threshold)

I am scanning old slides and need some advice with PS. Here is a link to a jpg (the original is a large TIF file) of one of the photos.
The background to too bright. I want to darken the background, while not touching the girls. I thoght about using the "burn tool", but thought someone might know of a better way.
Any suggestions?
