Re: [photoshop-beginners] Delete XMP Files?

Greg, Pretty much 'No'.  I don't use any of what you mentioned - No RAW or NEF; No Bridge or Lightroom; No CR2; No Premier Elements.  However, I do have Adobe CS5 (w/Bridge) installed.  I do not use either for photos, and am only learning CS5 capabilities.  What I use for photos was Adobe Photoshop Elements 6 & 8, but found them very slow due to # of photos.  So, began deleteing 'junk'.  Hense, I found WLPG's capabilities, organizations, etc.  I does have a fall back that I'm dealing with in that it has so many duplicates (not exactly sure why that is, yet though and why I'm deleting so many images).  It seems the CAXMP File folder in My Catalog began around the time I installed CS5 (Jan 2012).  Do you think that's coinsidental?

Do you use Bridge or Lightroom?
as stated the XMP files are created by Apps like these to store the changes to the file that you have made.  When you use a RAW file like NEF or CR2 or others...these files are not actually edited.  The data from the edits is stored in the XMP files and the original RAW file is left untouched.  Programs like Lightroom and Bridge can store edits in the XMP files for jpg files as well.

CAXMP as a folder name seems out of place...Do you use Premier elements as well?  Premier can create XMP files for video edits and stores them in various folders.  They may be deleted after the edits are saved.
