Thanks to those who replied to my earlier thread. Actually there was a trick that I just needed to know, which was to Alt+ Click on the layer mask to go into direct edit.
My next question is as follows. In photo enhancement, what's the best way to bring out detail in the very darkest regions while leaving all the rest intact? Surely I wouldn't need to use a selection, would I?
