bar at the top that you have path selected. Then if you need to, stroke the
path with a brush. Also you can use the elliptical marquee tool to make
your circle. Just hold down the shift key as you draw and you will get a
perfect circle. Then go the edit menu and choose stroke if necessary.

This is another one of those "How do I...?" posts. I have a page with a
patterned background. I want to draw a simple line circle with the
background showing through. I've tried several times & all I can get is a
solid, filled in circle.
My Photoshop 7 is decaying a little but still works most of the time.
