[photoshop-beginners] Knife tutorial - help needed

Hi,

I am trying out this tutorial now.

it is supposed to be a simple one but I am not getting the expected result in step 2. I mean after applying the layer style(blending options) for Knife 2 layer, I am not getting the effects as shown in 2b. there is no dividing line between the 2 areas of the knife, for instance.

Can someone help?
