Thanks, Ashiq, I have not had time to work on the tutorial but I promise I will.
I think you have discovered if you wish to move any element independently it must be on it own layer.

JoAnn,

Details of what I did.

Earlier(the problem occurred that time).

1. created 3 circles (which means 3 shape layers were created). And tried to move them. Only blended area inside the circle(s) moved.

Solution.

1. create a layer (this acts as kind of base layer, I guess).
2. create 3 circles – so 3 more shape layers.
3. try to move. This time the circle moves(depending on the shape layer you are in)

I don't know the reason but it works. And your question on layers made me try this. Thanks a lot.
