Bridge has several viewing options. The Essentials is a thumbnail grid, while Filmstrip scrolls the thumbs underneath and blows up the selected image(s). There's also the view<slideshow where they all get blown up one at a time for ranking/labeling. The view has other features as well, some new. I would highly recommend the LL Tutorials with the CS4 Camera Raw update to the one they did for CS3. Bridge now has taken over many of the characteristics of LR2 and now includes many of the features that were only available inside PS, like many of the file<automate commands.
Either get the tutorial (recommended) or Jeff S.'s book CS4 Camera Raw.
