Re: [photoshop-beginners] Delete XMP Files?

John, I'm still thinking CS5 created it, unless there are two.  It dates back to when I installed CS5 in Jan.  It's in C:\Owner\Pictures\My Catalog\CAXMP Files, so basically where your's is.  I'll look around for something Elements created, hadn't thought about that.  There are still 20,000 items in the folder while the 15,000 are in recycle bin until I decide how to handle them.  Leaning toward deleting them.     Trish

Okay, I just did a  search for Caxmp on my system, and I found.   I do not have Photoshop Elements, but I do have Premiere Elements. The folder is located in my Elements Organizer folder, specifically:  "C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Elements Organizer\Catalogs\My Catalog\CAXMPfiles"  So, I think it safe to say it is a product of an Adobe Elements installation.

The CAXMP folder is something Photoshop Elements uses as part of its organizer, face recognition and such.  CS5 doesn't create a CAXMP folder (I have used CS4, CS5 and now CS6 and don't have such a folder).  You may find Bridge a bit faster than trying to work in Photoshop elements organizer.  Bridge is a file manager and doesn't want to do all the stuff Elements organizer wants to do.  Lightroom is fast once it imports all the photos, after that any time you import (download from your memory card) I remembers a lot of info.  Give Bridge a try.

Keith, was definately t/b considered.  Others have mentioned editing programs, I am using Adobe Elements 6&8.  But do have Photoshop CS5 installed (only learning it so far) - the CAXMP file folder seems to have arrived around time I installed CS5.  Coincidental?

I'm not a gamer either, but it wouldn't surprise me if one used 15k
files. It was a possibility to consider, that's all.
