Greg, I can't identify what they belong to, they are currently in Recycle Bin and I need to know what to do with them - Empty Recycle Bin or Restore them. I cannot determine which images they belong to and do not use/shoot in RAW. They seem t/b from a single folder with same date for all - C:\Owner\Pictures\MyCatalog\CAXMPFiles & dated 1/25\12 (around 15,000 total) Properties did not give me a clue either. I have deleted many images already and wonder if these XMP files do belong to the already deleted images (but don't know that for sure or how to find out what images they do belong to.
Appreciate your reply though, thanx, Trish

XMP files are the side car files created by ACR and other adobe apps.
When you open a RAW file; the ACR program creates an XMP file that stores all the ACR settings.
If you want to start over and re-convert the image; delete the matching XMP and re-open in ACR. You will then have a fresh conversion.
With the new ACR out with PSCS6 you may want to delete old XMP files so the new ACR program opens them up. otherwise they will open in the ACR version you originally used to create them.
