RE: [photoshop-beginners] Delete XMP Files?

You do not want to delete xmp files, they store the metadata from different Adobe applications such ACR, Lightroom, etc. so that changes you make can be accessed by other programs regardless of the file format. Different file formats store different types of metadata and xmp makes all  the data consistent.  As I use Lightroom, if I were to delete the xmp files I would lose most, if not all, the edits I have performed on my images. If my catalog becomes corrupted, I can rebuild most of it from the xmp files. So do not delete them, you might be losing important information.

Are xmp files worth anything?

XMP files are data files about the picture you took and processed. Mine are
generated by ACR when I work on a raw file and convert to jpg or some other
format
Here is the data for one of my files: _MG_4141.xmp

Subject: [photoshop-beginners] Delete XMP Files?

I have alot of XMP Files in Recycle bin. Not sure what they represent. I
have deleted many images from WLPG & Pictures Library, but do not know if
these files represent the deleted images or some other images. They are in
a C:\ File - Pictures\My Catalog\CAXMP Files 7-8KB (or were and all have
same date.) I may have deleted the entire catalog by mistake so wonder how
to handle these files - delete them from recycle bin or restore them. Never
encountered XMP Files with other deleted images and did empty images (w/o
XMP File) from recycle bin. All advice/experiences welcome, thanx, Trish
