Re: [photoshop-beginners] Delete XMP Files?

Trish,
If you have ever installed the PS Elements program these files will be left if you un-install.  They do not delete the catalog files unless you remove preferences during the install and even then I think the catalog is left behind in case you are doing a re-install.

As for Elements Organizer and speed issues.  One thing that caused PSE Organizer to be slow initially was the auto analysis process running in the background.  If you turn off the Auto analyze features in the preferences the program it speeds up a ton.

Trish...If you have no matching image files in the system, and you are no longer using the PSE program, and you do not do RAW conversion, I would say you are pretty safe just deleting the files and moving on. If they are in the Recycle bin they are not being used by the program in any case.  All these files will be saving are settings for display of the image in PSE.  your images will display in any other software even if the XMP files are gone.
