[photoshop-beginners] Re: Opacity/tone
Gradient map maps the foreground color to the darkest values and the background to the highest.
Test this by creating two copies of the original layer, then applying gradient map to one, then flipping the fg and bg colors and applying gradient map to the other copy.
Just for fun, check out the effect of blending those two layers via difference.
