[photoshop-beginners] inquiry and in need of advice

I have a Mac mini which is several years old OS version 10.6.8, so it's an older machine.

I have been using photoshop CS 2 on it, which was adequate for my needs.

I basically make designs out of photos and post them on my blog:

The other day, suddenly, the photoshop stopped working. Adobe indicated that they

suspended license on this software...something like that. I tried finding the disk that

I bought so many years ago and can't.  Someone suggested that I  download Gimp

and looked at it on someone else's computer. It looks quite complicated for me. I think

it would take me a long time to understand it the way I do the photoshop I have been

using...which was limited knowledge.  

I understand that most of the photoshop programs sold today would not work on

my computer.  Other than this, my computer is working well and I don't want to give it up.

What I would like to know is this:

l. Would I be able to have a simple photoshop program on a lab top Mac computer?

If so, what would you recommend.

2. If I get a lap top computer, what do I need to do so that I don't have to ask anyone to

come and install it for me.  I have a router that is hooked up to my computer and I have

an Ipad that works from that router.
