RE: [photoshop-beginners] Re: Photo and Text Photoshop Tutorials

ETSY has been around for quite some time.  It is big amongst craft people.

LOL ... I have the same question John ... so I googled it.
OMG!  what a load of BS!
Since they are reluctant to clear up such a simple thing as their name leads me to believe that have other things they might hide.
I'm staying away from them.

Thank you for these attached comment emails because I have almost left this group because I was starting to feel like if I didn't know everything there was to know about Photoshop then I didn't need to be here trying to learn anything but to just use tutorials and just do it!

I do digital graphic designing and a sample of what I have made is below my signature but there is a lot more of what I do in an ETSY shop that I have.  I will never forget the beginning of my learning venture of the program and my now intermediate/semi-advanced knowledge, a HUGE DIFFERENCE :).  Now, this is why I am patient with anyone who ask me HOW-TO on anything that I can help them with, a sample of NOT FORGETTING WHERE I CAME FROM :).

Thanks again!

Second this. Started with Photoshop 6 and have been a member here for years. But PS keeps evolving, resetting the learning curve. We remain "beginners" even if we are more advanced than newcomers.
Also, the kind folks at Adobe (no saying what kind) move and alter older tools, just so we don't get into a rut.
As an educator, have always faced the problem of explicating what I know to those who have not yet found the light switch. Teaching is not about imparting the material, but helping students find their own light. Students need to guide their education by telling the teacher when they don't understand.
A good tutorial should be identified up front as basic, intermediate or advanced depending on what needs to be known before beginning it.
If all is explained in the tutorial, then is is basic.
If some basic things are used but not explained, it is intermediate.
If you need more experience and knowledge of the system than the basics to follow the lesson, it is advanced.
It will certainly help the creator of the tutorial to say you are having trouble with this step and what you have done. The tut can be improved or you can learn the more basic part you didn't know.
God bless you always, all ways,
Paul

Advanced tutorials can be viewed as an indication of where you can go and what you can do and what you need to work on to get there. Remember there are members here of all levels and they are the ones who answer the questions.

They forget the importance and the need to explain even the most basic movement of the mouse. A teacher needs to get beyond the fact that they are great and go back to the beginning to what were the things that they got stuck on and put those thoughts into their tutorials.
