These days we here people complaining that the use of Photoshop has diminished the value of photographs, that is, is the photo “real” or has it been photo shopped?? We can no longer trust photos for telling the truth. This article reports on an exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. It details photo manipulation before the Photoshop era, and reports it was quite extensive. In the beginning of photography it was necessary because of issues in photography. But in later years, even the greats indulged in photo manipulation to realize their vision, whether it was art, or propaganda, and so forth.
