If you want a white background that is seemingly transparent, you can lessen the opacity of that white layer, too....  PNG files are total absence of color, btw.

But when it's placed into another photo it has a white background.

Thats OK guys. I'll just assume it can't be done in PS.

Go to file new, choose the sizes, and in the background contents box,
click on the little arrow, choose transparent

Is there a simple way to make the background color of a graphic
transparent in ps5?

IE: Background = solid white
Foreground = (colored text) CAT
Problem = make the white transparent.
