Well I would learn how to do selections to get the original images, bushes, moon, and possibly sky, with Photoshop. Then learn how to use Final Cut Pro for your video project as it is most suited for that. As I mentioned earlier, you could do it all in PS but it would be long and tedious, since you have the tools for it use the video program. Thanks to my camera, I am just now getting into video, it not only takes stills, but it takes HD video.

I use Final Cut Pro X - good software. I have only had it a few months so I am still learning this program. I know I can do it in a Final Cut Pro add-on, Motion, but I haven't learned the program yet.

I was hoping I could sandwich a moon in a layer in Photoshop between the sky and the bushes; then I could move/animate the moon in video software.

Sounds like you have a lot of work to do. Wouldn’t you have to make a separate picture for each movement of the moon and then use them as frames in a video?

Joe - This is very helpful! Thank you so much. I have one question, though. This is for a video I am making. I want to move the moon in the video so will the bushes that are positioned on the moon move with it? If so, it won't work. If the moon will move by itself without having the bushes move with it, it will be wonderful.

I could create a brand new image - it doesn't matter; however, if I find an image that has bushes, I don't know how to separate it's sky to put in the moon, if that makes sense.

I want to be able to move the moon behind the bushes. I need a psd image of bushes in one layer and the moon in another so I can use the psd file in a video and move the moon behind the bushes.

First of all, there are no layers to separate. What do you want to do with
the photo?

I have a single jpg image - a moon behind bushes and peeping above the top
of the bushes. Is there any way to separate these layers in PhotoShop? I
didn't create the image so I don't have the psd file.
