RE: [photoshop-beginners] Logo Problem

What I was thinking, if it is possible, is to create them small, then install them into the video after the video is shrunk.  However, if you cannot install them after shrinking  the video, then you need to redesign them knowing that they will be shrunk.  You design in PS, then shrink it there to see how it looks. Go back to the original design and modify it and shrink it again. Keep this up until you get something you like.

Pngs are bitmaps, and bitmaps do not take kindly to size changes, either up or down. But, with a bit of work, you can come up with a  design that distorts the least when the video shrinks.  Of course the ideal format would be as a vector as it maintains its appearance whether you shrink or expand it.  PS is not a  vector design program, but you can do a little bit of vector creation with the shapes and paths………..

They were png files.

Are you saying I should shrink the files to the watermark dimensions before I take the file into the video?

What seems to be happening is that they are being rasterized when you add
them to your movie, (if they were a vector image). Or were they bit maps to
begin with?? Bit maps do not shrink (or grow) well. Can you add the logos
after you shrink the movie?? If so then design for the final size, and add
them to the movie after it has been shrunk. If you cannot do that, design
them as vectors, using the fonts and the supplied shapes and path objects,
they should look the same regardless of the size. Play around with a still
image to get the idea since you will have the same issues, i.e. put your
watermark on the image and then shrink it.

I am going nuts trying to make a logo. I have made about 20 versions and
they end up with jagged edges when the size is reduced to go into my video
editing program to act as a watermark.

The logo is made up of letters. Some versions are embossed and transparent
and others are embossed and are colored. They look great before I add them
to the movie and reduce the size.

Can you tell me what I am doing wrong?
