I.T. who? Adobe customer support? I found a troubleshooting article on Adobe's web site. http://help.adobe.com/en_US/PhotoshopElements/8.0/Win/Using/WS96256bd4ae515969-4d02fa40120d93eaabf-7fdd.html
I haven't used Elements 8 since I upgraded to Photoshop CS4 a few years ago so I can't offer too much more help. If all else fails un-install and re-install it.

Subject: [photoshop-beginners] Edit function of Elements 8 will not launch,
When I click on the "edit" function it simply times out/resets itself and never launces.
I contacted IT spport however they informed me that they knew nothing of the product and suggested I look in the forums which of course had no information whatsoever, I've posted a question there with no feedback as of yet.
