[photoshop-beginners] Automating trimming edges

I am creating Mosaics of the moon from a number of tiff images. The tiff images are created by Registax 6 from 500 frame avi's. The individual Tiff files are created with a small 3 pixel wide light border (By the sharpening I think) and are 1024 x 768. What I would like to do is trim a 3 pixel wide border off each tiff. I can do this easily in Irfanview but this means dropping to 8 bit tiffs and I can manually use the crop tool in Photoshop to remove A small border (size unknown). What I would like to do is automate and quantify (make a known size) this cropping in Photoshop CS3. I guess it's real easy WHEN you know how. Can someone explain to this old man how to do this?
