Harvey,
I did not mean that you should learn them or that you were out to learn them...It is just one of the biggest complaints about the CS versions of Photoshop.
I like the images you attached they are quite nice.

Greg, I am not into trying to learn & use the keyboard shortcuts, I just want to better understand and use more of the wonderful aspects of photo editing and manipulation. Nothing super artistic just to create a more interesting photo out of one, two or several photos. I have done a few that were quite rewarding in comments from others in my photo groups.
Here is an example.

Most of the things you are learning in PS7 are in CS5 They just move around or get better with age. 
Some of the functionality has changed especially the keyboard short cuts and stuff like that.
Don't get too locked into a keyboard pattern until you know how to access things from the menus.
