Re: [photoshop-beginners] super basic question, please don't throw things at me (unless it's chocolate)

Open the template and open your image. Since you are a beginner probably
easiest for you to on your image go to select/select all then go to
edit/copy then go to the template and go to edit paste. this will give you a
new layer in the template. Drag this layer down to where the layer says
"image goes here." You could then delete the layer that says "image goes
here" You would probably need to do some resizing of your image in that
layer. This can be done by making the layer active (click on the layer in
the layers pallet. It should then be highlighted) Go to edit/free
transform
This will draw a rectangle around the image with handles at each corner and
at the center of the sides. If you then grab one of the corner handles and
with the shift key held down, dragging that corner with make the image small
or larger depending on which way you want to go. Hold down the shift key
keeps the ratio of the lengths of the sides the same (constrains the
lengths)

Hi everyone,

Hubby bought me CS5 the other day, and I decided that I would jump in and
try it out with a psd template I have.

the template is for a cd label, it has loads of layers, some graphic, some
text, and the idea is that you personalise it with an image of your own.

now.. try as I might, i can't figure out how to replace the grey 'image goes
here' layer with my own picture and resize it to fit.. I know it must be
something super simple.. but it's driving me to near tears.

can anyone point me at a tutorial of some sort that is designed for dummy
beginners??

I HAVE enrolled in a basics course, but it doesn't start for 3 weeks, and I
really want to print this off before then :/

seek peace
