Trashing the Preferences has sorted the problem.
As I said before, I do not need anti virus on this computer as it goes nowhere
near other computers or the Internet.
Working perfect now. Thanks for the help and advice.
George.

Is the file in 8-bits if you are going to jpeg? you cannot save a 16 bit file to jpeg. Are there layers in the file that need to be flattened? Is the folder you are saving to read only? in other words do you have full read/write/delete rights to the folder in Windows?Have you tried to save it onto the desktop? Can you make a duplicate of the file using the command Image>Duplicate?Do you have ownership of the photoshop program folders in Windows?C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\adobe photoshop >Right click and choose properties> go to the security tab and highlight your user name or profile.you should have all rights except "special permissions"Check the same thing for the destination folder. <see above>I know various virus discussions have gone on but have you tried a different anti-virus program? Try running Microsoft Security Essentials on your system. It is free and does a fair job of getting rid of most common virus issues.Lastly, try running a registry error checking program like CCleaner on your PC..again it is free and does a reasonable job of getting things sorted out. It will remove broken or corrupted registry entries, old and unused registry entries and leave your PC smelling lemony fresh...<kidding>BTW, how much free space do you have on the drive??This is a very vexing problem and a sense of humor only helps you in the long run here...Greg Groess
