Re: [photoshop-beginners] how to I fix a blemish in a photograph

Now I know what you mean.

First I always copy the layer, then turn the original layer invisible so I'm less likely to do something to it. I also right away do a save with a bit different name, so I don't write over the original file.
Use the healing brush, Alt click on an area that is the closest in color to the the area you want the bad spot to blend into.  Start at the top of the photo where there isn't anything in the way.  By the time you get down near the head you will be a bit better at it. I usually use fairly short strokes.  You may need to move the place you are sampling from occasionally (alt click on a place closer to the color you need).

As you get closer to the head  use a smaller brush and if the mode is on "Normal" switch it to "Replace".  This will make it easier to get close to the head.  You may also need to make the brush harder.

If you don't understand how to do some of these things, just ask.

Not sure what else to call it.  It's almost dead center over her head,  Runs from the top of the photo to the top of her head.  After looking a bit closer, it appears to be something on the wall, although I don't remember anything being on the wall then, nor is there anything on the wall now.  Not sure what caused it.

Thanks,

What blemish?  I can't tell what you are referring to.

This may not be the right place to ask this question because I only have Photoshop 7 to make changes to photographs. I hope so.

I have a photo of my daughter, but there is a slight blemish at the top of her head. It distracts from the photo and I woul like to learn how to fix it.

I have tried using the healing brush tool, but the results were not very good. What else can I do to fix this photo? Also, any other suggestions?

I uploaded the photo into album "Jed's Stuff" so that you can see what I am talking about.

Thank you,

Jed
