I went to the local office supply store, Office Max, and bought their heavier paper. It comes in various colors and I would design the card around the color, this way I would not waste ink just for background, Like if much of the background would be blue, by using blue paper I did not need to waste ink painting a blue sky. They do not have too much variety in weights so it was easy to choose, basically they were 'construction paper' weight.
