RE: [photoshop-beginners] What did I do!!?

The easy way is to
1. Load original image.
2. Duplicate the background layer.
3. Set Blend mode to screen.
4. Adjust the opacity of the top layer to your taste.
5. Mask out the window area behind the grandfather as it is bright
enough.

I put 3 pictures on the photoshop-beginners page to see if anyone can tell
me what happened here. The first one I took eight and a half years ago of
my granddaughter and her other grandfather. Obviously need some fill in
light but what did I know.

The next one shows what I arrived at making a number of selections and
correcting the exposure.

However, the 3rd one just showed up in the photo file. I never made that
selection.

Oops, I figured it out I did make the selection when she was 5 yrs old.

So I just pasted # three onto # 2 and got a much better picture.

There has to be an easier way, this way I have the background, 4 levels and
1 layer.
