Subject: [photoshop-beginners] My PS CS3 Extended is so slow to respond

I asked this once before a long time ago, someone asked for my computer specs, and I never got back to replying about that.  Couldn't remember where to find them.  I do now, let's see if I can clarify.

When I want to open a new window in PS, the box comes up for size and resolution, then takes 30 seconds or more to respond after that.  More time to open any photos or graphics.  This makes everything I do very time consuming.

And I NEVER had this kind of problem when using Paint Shop Pro, which I deleted from my computer when I installed PS.

My computer specs include:

  •     Windows Vista Home Premium- Sony VAIO
  •     Processor :  Intel Core 2 Duo CPU, T6400, 2.0 GHz
  •     Memory :  4.0 Gb
  •     System type:  64-bit operating system

- Hmmm, can't find where my graphic card details are, shouldn't that be in the Control Panel?

- Diskkeeper runs constantly in the background, doing constant defrags.  This is supposed to help keep the system from slowing down, I never have to do a manual defrag.

I'd really like to figure out why my PS is so sluggish, my husband has never had these kinds of problems.

*** I would like to say that there are three programs in my Control Panel / programs list, where you uninstall programs, that I can't uninstall.  One of them is PSP.  It's not available to me, but I can't uninstall it for some reason. I just don't think that has anything to do with it.  Unfortunately, with Adobe products, they only allow so many installs without calling and begging, and I already had to do that to put it on this computer.  They want to know why ... Well duh, computer die, get viruses, buy new computers.  Protection of their products carried annoyingly too far, IMO.

Thanks!

Valarie
