Ctrl+Click on the layer to select the extracted image, then
add a mask of the selection, finally
Gaussian blur the mask to get the fuzzy edge you want.
Does not damage the original as erasing will do and is easier than trying to paint the edge.
However, you may fine tune the fuzzy edge by painting desired changes into the mask.
