If you want to capture a snip of a menu, such as the Start menu, follow these steps:
1. Open Snipping Tool by clicking the Start button 
, clicking All Programs, clicking Accessories, and then clicking Snipping Tool.
2. After you open Snipping Tool, press ESC, and then open the menu that you want to capture.
3. Press CTRL+PRINT SCREEN.
4. Click the arrow next to the New button, select a snip type from the menu, and then use your mouse or tablet pen to capture the menu.
This is Windows 7, don't know about earlier versions.

Well the problem with capturing menus is if you have to click the screen the menus disappear. PrtScrn can catch, them, I think, and the Vista/7 Snipping Tool can by taking some extra steps. Using it the regular way will not work as the menus retract.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean about including menus. Irfanview is able capture whatever is on your screen.
Can you be more specific?

Learn something new everyday. I have had Irfanview for years and did not know it could do screen captures. Can it include menus as well??

| Both the snipping tool and the PrtSc work, but I use a program called FastStone Capture for capturing the full screen, part of the screen, web pages that are larger than one screen length, and videos. Works great and only costs about $20.00. What's good about that program is that once you have captured your screen shot you can draw on the image, add comments to it, insert arrows to point to something, etc. Then save as a jpg, png, or gif. Best $20.00 I ever spent.
