Take your crop tool and grab the whole image. Then, on the top line, or whever you want to add image to, drag that little box in the center of the topline up....basically selecting more of the grey canvas to be included in the 'photo'. Double-click over top the image to crop. You will then see a white area in the space you raised the top line up over....and now you can paint in sky or whatever..... :)
