Just try clicking on another tool or you can dismiss the "marching ants" selection marquee by pressing CTRL-D, or clicking the menu Select > Deselect.

I bought this with the understanding that it was easy and lots of help was available. I've done everything i can see to get rid of the smart brush when i'm finished painting with it but theres no instructions anywhere on how to get rid of the brush so i can move on and do something else.
If i try to pick up a photo that dam brush is there putting a red mark in the middle of my photo. I sat in the bookstore yesterday reading all the help books specifically what to do with the smart brush when i'm finished using it but got no answers. It appears that even dummies are supposed to know how to put their tools away but i'm not having any luck. I am very green new beginner.
Is my Photoshop experience destined to be smart brushing everything and filing them away with the crawling ants still marching around? and thats all? Please somebody take pity on me. I want to try the filters, and masks and adding 2 or 3 elements to my pic.
The smart brush is still on my moitor and wont go away.
I hope you are understanding what i'm asking. I clicked on the smart brush on my very first time with Elements 8 and have been stuck with it ever since. Surely theres a way to put it back on the side bar where i found it........?
I rue the day i picked up that dumb tool.
