[photoshop-beginners] RE: TODAY until midnight !!!

Hi all,

First, I want to say that I check out GAOTD every single day. Some items are really useful, while others are a waste of time.

Second, if you’re not familiar with the GAOTD software, there are “fingers” in the install. You’re not just getting a download from Paragon or EaseUs or whomever, you’re also getting an embedded piece associated with GAOTD.

Read the EULA and you’ll find that support isn’t available, upgrades impossible and many have complained that trying to move the software from one computer to another can’t be done without encountering problems.

With today’s item, one has to consider this - you are getting a piece of software that doesn’t allow for upgrades or support. Once you install this - how will your APS paid-for software react to that? It’s been about six months and I don’t recall all the details, but this was a huge issue on one giveaway. It voided out a legal piece of software from getting updates from the parent company.

I’ve personally had problems with an application from GAOTD and then I wanted to get the paid-for version from the parent company. On one occasion, I had to contact their tech support and go through numerous steps to get my paid-for version to work properly.

Third, there are tons of free plugins for most any software and APS is one of them. Here’s what one post on today’s giveaway states:

“This is not a true freebie, it’s just a plugin – You can find thousands of free Photoshop plugins simply by googling. Very poor effort GAOTD”

Read many of the other posts and you’ll find that several people say it’s easier to do these tasks with tools already available in APS.

Fourth - Be a smart shopper. Even though this is free - please be sure this is the best thing for you. My suggestion is to Google search “adobe photoshop plugins” and check some of those out.

Fifth - and lastly - GAOTD can be a very good site for certain pieces of software. I’ll continue checking out their offers, but I also know that one needs to be wise in just what strings may be attached and/or how it could affect existing software on your PC.

Good luck.

Gil

I got the plug in installed, make sure you register it, because it leaves dollar signs and cross hairs on your picture you were trying to fix if you don't.

Get rid of the nasty wires crossing your photos just in several clicks! NoWires automatically removes telephone, electric, and other wires from your digital images.

NoWires integrates with Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Photoshop Elements and can be used though Filters menu.
Removing wires is very simple: just select start and end points of the wire and press OK button. All other work will be done automatically by NoWires.

NB: to install and use the plugin it is necessary to have Adobe Photoshop installed on the PC.
