[APS] Re:Halftone to tone

If you are talking about a feature called something like "de-mosaic or raster reduction". That served me well on my old scanner, and I noticed it ain't there anymore in the Epson Scan software. You might also try using one of the controls in ACR post scanning, b ut it is unlikely you can get rid of the halftone pattern with the luminance noise reduction. Another quick fix is to use the local brush in CS4 so you can smooth out that pattern where it needs it most. Post ACR5 translation, here's a trick I used to use. At the beginning before any other layers other than the background image, here is a trick I use to eliminate small dirt and can be used to hide problems. On the dupe layer, Filter<Noise<Dust & Scratches. Start with 5 on the top and 10 on the bottom in the dialog box and then lower the top number until it's as sharp as possible without showing the halftone pattern. For shots that need to be sharp on the subject. To sharpen the face, put a white layer mask on that layer and use a small number BLACK BRUSH at less than 50% opacity to reveal the sharp areas of your imagery without the soft background.
