dpi times image dimensions will give image size
Printing at 300 dpi and say an 8x10 photo, your image size will be 2400x3000. If you are going to reduce the size of the original, change the box at the bottom to bicubic sharper, best for reduction. Increasing, use bicubic smoother. Also let Photoshop manage the color in doing the printing. (at least for the HP 9180). Use paper made especially for your printer. You might look at the Russell Brown page. He has some info for printing some where on the page.
